My husband and I have two savannah f6 kittens-about 5 months old. They aren't fixed yet, but will be soon. We put their litter box and cat tower in the garage as well as their food dish. Unfortunatley they have been peeing all over the garage, all over our beds, couches, and carpet. They have also pooped on my clothes twice. We are wondering what there is we can do to fix this, because I am about to loose my mind! We clean their box everyday. Also does anyone have experience with the automatic litter boxes that you just change filters? Im thinking our male is starting to spray because its getting increasingly worse. Will getting them fixed help this? Its a male and female. We have to keep them out in the garage most of the day now because of this bad behavior. Any advice is much appreciated, thank you!

Hi
how many trays do you have?
If you only have one I would get 2 more.
They may not have liked where the tray was placed,is it a covered tray?
Some cats prefer privacy.
If this behaviour has just started can you think what could have triggered it off?
It would seem they are protesting about something.
Having them fixed will help more than hinder but the habit of inappropriate toileting needs to be broken.
You may have to start back at the beginning with their litter training and restrict the areas they can free roam until the problem stops.
I don't think the garage will help it is probably confusing them further.
I'm assuming there are no health issues that could be causing this problem?
I would also ask the breeder for advice on this problem.

Feliway plug ins can sometimes help.
I hope you resolve this problem soon as it must be very frustrating

We need a bit more information here. Are they siblings? Have they always been doing this? How long have you had them and was their litter habits okay at one time. Bengals tent to be very territorial and will start doing these types of behaviors with multiple cats or new pets entering the home so if they have a lot of bengal??
If they had good litter habits then something changed suddenly, it may be a marking behavior. One may be learning the bad behavior from the other. I would separate them to find out who is the problem. A bathroom or small cage is a better method to get them back on track. Get them fixed, keep them confined until the habit is broken. I had a kitten that learned to pee on the couch from her mom. They both had to be banished from the house but later, when the kitten was reintroduced, the behavior had stopped. Let us know what you try.

They are siblings, we got them right before Christmas day and we have 3 dogs. The dogs and cats get along great and for the most part ignore eachother. Unless of course the cats fall asleep on my shepherd mix, but otherwise they mind their own. They have had this habit ever since we got them. They were being kept outside in a large fenced in area with other kittens from their litter. So they might have formed the habit just from being outside and never being properly trained after birth.
Their litter box is enclosed. We clean it daily.
anything else you need to know, let me know... Ill keep an eye on them for the next couple days and will be getting them fixed. Thanks!

Well you sort of answered it. They never learned to go properly so you will have to retrain them from scratch. This is exactly why savannahs need to be raise inside and raised right.
I recommend using small cages and retrain them. There is a litter called Cat Attract that has herbs to entice them to use the litter boxes. It works great and used for raising feral raised kittens to litterbox train. I keep my kittens in their own rooms until about 8 weeks because savannahs can be problem habit pee-ers. Cat Attract has a booklet attached about retraining good litter habits.
Your kitten probably just learned to go everywhere which is fine for outside but not for housepets.

Okay I'll definatley try that cat litter. So I should seperate the two? Their litter box is in the garage, will they act out if I move into a different room and seperate them for training purposes? If you one of you seasoned cat owners could just give me a step by step of what to do that would be great. And any food recommendations would be awesome. thanks for all the great help so far :) and they are getting fixed Thursday!

I would separate them because one may be learning the bad habits from the other. I honestly don't know how to housetrain a cat because mind do it when they are 5 weeks old. I try not to create problems and expect others to fix them, as a breeder. That is why it pays to spend a little extra and get a cat from a reputable breeder that had properly raised their kittens and made sure that you don't get stuck with a problem cat. It is not fair to anyone, the buyer or the kitten :(
Why isn't your breeder helping you out with this issue? That is where I would go. They created the problem- they can fix it. I am sorry if I am too blunt here but that who you need to getting help from as well. :-o
I recommend a good quality dry and raw diet. I have been very happy with Taste of the Wild.
